Linula

Lunula is a crescent-shaped metal pendant worn, for example, by Slavic women. For former Slavic women, lunula were willingly worn by both married and unmarried women. They were a symbol of femininity and fertility. They were worn to ensure the favor of the gods and to protect against evil spells. Their cultural significance is certainly associated with the symbolism of the moon, the full cycle of which also determines the menstrual cycle in women. Name lunula associated with the old name of the moon, which, among other things, the Slavs used to call it radiance... The feminine form of the name of the natural satellite of the Earth seems to confirm that for the Slavs the Moon was a woman: beautiful, dazzling with its radiance and, above all, changeable. Thus, the lunula is a manifestation of femininity in all its glory, so it is not surprising that this symbol was rather not worn by men.
