Svefnthorn

Svefnthorn Is one of the most authentic symbols of the Vikings, which has been mentioned several times in several Nordic sagas, including the Wolsung saga, the saga of King Hrolf Kraka and the Gongu-Hrolf saga. While Svefntorn's appearance, definition, and magical qualities differ slightly in each myth, all stories have one thing in common: Svefntorn was primarily used to put his enemies to sleep.

This symbol was used by the Nords (and the gods) to put their opponents into a deep and long sleep. Odin plunges the Valkyrie Brunhild / Brunhild into deep sleep in The Wolsung Saga. She sleeps until Sigurd heroically comes to her aid and wakes her up.

Queen Olof uses Svefntorn to put King Helga to sleep in The Saga of King Hrolf Kraka, and he has been asleep for hours. Vilhjalmr uses it on Hrolf in the Gongu-Hrolf saga, and Hrolf does not wake up the next day.
