Level of

Level is a common symbol of Freemasonry. The Council section on Tracing Freemasonry says:

“The jewels of the box are three movable and three immovable. The three movable stones are the square, the level and the plumb line. Among the operational Masons ... the level is to lay the levels and check the horizontal lines ... Among the free and accepted Masons ... the equality of levels. " The level symbolizes equality. Masons are taught that we all come from the same place, work towards similar goals and share the same hope.

In addition, the Freemason recognizes that while men may not have the same abilities and gifts, everyone deserves equal respect and the same opportunity. The senior lodge keeper wears the level symbol. The tool reminds the senior overseer of the importance of treating all members equally.
