Masonic Pencil

Bricklayers used pencils to sketch and mark up during construction. The head mason represents the building on the blueprint, and the blueprint guides the bricklayers. Today, speculative Masons do not draw symbolic meaning from the instrument.

In Freemasonry, God is an artist, and we are workers. The pencil serves as a reminder that God records all actions, and on the day of judgment we will be judged according to our deeds.
