Twenty four inches

Bricklayers used a twenty-four-inch gauge to measure their work. Today the instrument symbolizes twenty-four hours a day. Further, the clock is divided into three equal parts of eight hours each.

Masons are taught to allocate one third for work, the second third for serving God and people in society, and the last third for sleep and rest. In some houses, the 24-inch gauge is clearly divided into three different segments.
