Dharma Wheel Symbol (Dharmachakra) - A Buddhist emblem resembling a cart wheel, with eight arms, each of which represents one of the eight assumptions of the Buddhist faith. The Dharma Wheel symbol is one of the eight ashtamangala or auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism.

Dharma — it is an ambiguous term found, in particular, in Buddhism and Hinduism. In Buddhism, this can mean: universal law, Buddhist teaching, Buddha's teaching, truth, phenomena, elements or atoms.

Symbolism and meaning of the Wheel of Dharma

The circle symbolizes the completeness of the Dharma, the spokes represent the eightfold path leading to enlightenment:

  • righteous faith
  • correct intentions,
  • correct speech,
  • righteous deed
  • righteous life,
  • proper effort,
  • due attention,
  • meditations

Sometimes Dhamra wheel sign surrounded by deer - they belong to the deer park where Buddha delivered his first sermon.
