I'll Be Using Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB Cream All Summer - Here's Why

I have a lot of respect for people who wear full makeup complete with full coverage base and eye shadow on a hot sweaty summer. I, on the other hand, have a “less is more” mentality, my skin needs to breathe as soon as the temperature is over 75 degrees. Sweat and heavy foundation? Not a good mix for me (think clogged pores and melted makeup). That's why I always choose bb cream as soon as warm weather arrives. I tried my share light BB creamsbut I haven't yet found one that is my ride or die product that I can't live without, so the search continues. The newest product I'm testing? Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB Cream, which the brand (owned by our parent company L'Oréal) sent me for the purposes of this review. My review of Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB Cream. 

Needless to say, I'm a type one girl. I take insanely good care of my skin, hydrating it endlessly and refusing to sit outside, let alone a window, without sunscreen (among other things). Considering I've spent years getting my skin to a naturally dewy glow (I've had severe acne for ten years), I try my best not to cover up my glow with makeup. Rather, I want my makeup to make my skin healthier. So, when I saw the eight benefits of Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream for skin, I was itching to try it out. Although the packaging is new, the formula that has been around for many years has not changed. It hides imperfections, improves, brightens, adjusts to your skin tone, smoothes, moisturizes, helps protect skin with a broad spectrum SPF 30 and is oil-free. The BB cream sounded amazing, and spoiler alert, it lived up to all its claims. 

With a fresh face, I unscrewed the lid and squeezed a coin-sized amount of product into my hand. It had a slight sunscreen scent (which I love) and looked very sheer on my hand. I chose to apply the product with a damp beauty sponge, but fingers or a brush will work too. The first thing I noticed when I started applying the product was a slight cooling sensation - not exactly a tingle, but rather a refreshing cool toning effect. It blends beautifully with my complexion and really looks like a second skin. I also liked that it wasn't cakey or heavy. Instead, it seemed light and barely noticeable. At first I was worried that the shade would be too orange for my skin, but after a bit of mixing, the color matched my skin tone well. 

Once I covered my complexion and added concealer over the breakouts, I took a step back and looked in the mirror. My skin looked hydrated and healthy. The formula improved the look of my skin, covered imperfections and fine lines, and gave me that summery glow I've always been looking for. It hydrated my skin (almost like a second moisturizer) and I loved knowing that the titanium oxide provided an extra layer of protection from the summer sun. 

As the day progressed, my obsession with BB cream grew. There was no separation or oxidation. It just gave me some extra sheer coverage which is perfect for summer. I have been using this product day in and day out since I first tried it. This is the real deal and dare I say my new BB cream.
