The day of the Dead ( Day of the Dead ) is a public holiday that lasts two days and brings together the living and the dead. Families make offerings to honor deceased family members. These altars are adorned with bright yellow flowers, photographs of the departed, favorite foods and drinks of the worshiped. The offerings are meant to encourage a visit to the land of the dead, as the souls of the dead hear their prayers, sniff their food, and join in the celebration! 🎉
