Part of Polish society is reluctant to celebrate Valentine's Day. He considers them a symptom of Americanization, a holiday alien to Polish culture. Some people do not celebrate Valentine's Day due to their commercial and consumer nature. They associate the holiday with the gift of kitsch things and an artificial, forced declaration of love.

According to some singles, Valentine's Day marginalizes those who are not in a relationship. Valentine's Day opponents aim to make the name of the day of lovers was given to the Kupala night (native holiday, previously celebrated by the Slavs, which falls on the night of June 21-22).
